Kia Ora, I’m Mel — founder of For Her Academy.
With over 9 years in the beauty industry and 13 specialised beauty certifications, I’ve built a successful lash business and trained 200+ students to begin their own journeys in the industry.
I started my beauty business from the ground up with very little, and what began as a way to earn an income quickly became a path to rebuilding my life. Through building my business, I rebuilt my confidence, my independence, and my future.. That experience is the reason For Her Academy exists.
The academy was created to give women practical skills that can open doors to financial independence, flexible work, and self-belief. What started as a small training offering has now supported 200+ women to begin their journeys in the beauty industry. For me, this work has always been about more than lashes. It’s about helping women realise they are capable of building something for themselves.
The academy also sits within the wider vision of the For Her Movement — a community initiative focused on creating opportunities, confidence, and support for women rebuilding their lives. Because sometimes learning a skill is the first step toward changing everything.
